Sarni is a city and a municipality in Betul district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.

As of 2001 India censusGRIndia, Sarni had a population of 95,015. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Sarni has an average literacy rate of 74%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 80%, and female literacy is 67%. In Sarni, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age. It has one of the major power producing plant running on thermal, and hydel modes. The major attraction in this place is the hill top situated "Mathaar Dev" Temple, and the bird's eye view of the city from there. The whole city seems to be surrounded by the satpura ranges of mountains, comprising the tranquality of the huge reservoir. Annual week long fair surrounding the occasion of "Makar Sankranti" in the month of January signifies the devotion, enjoyment and spirit of the people in Sarni.
