The lira (plural lire) was the currency of the Kingdom of Sardinia until 1861. It was subdivided into 20 soldi (singular soldo), each or 12 denari (singular denaro), until 1816, when the currency was pegged to the French franc and decimalized to consist of 100 centesimi (singular centesimo ). It was replaced at par by the Italian lira.
