Saranac Handicap

The Saranac Handicap is a race for thoroughbred horses run on the turf at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga, New York. It is open to three-year-olds of either gender at a distance of one and three-sixteenth miles. As a Grade III event in its 99th year in 2006, it offers a purse of $100,000.
The Saranac is a village in upstate New York, once a well known health resort.
Whirlaway won this race in 1941, Hard Tack in 1929, and Regret in 1915.
