[edit] Current events
An unsuccessful performance at Multan opened up the can of worms for Saqlain. He has not only been consistently ignored by the selectors since then but has also faced some fitness problems. After exclusion from Pakistan international team he started playing county cricket where he later got serious knee injuries. He underwent surgical operations on both his knees in November 2004.
He returned from injury with a three-day match against Bangladesh A, in which he bowled 35 overs and took four for 87 over the two innings. However, his first post-injury County Championship experience was tough; playing against Gloucestershire, his 28 overs yielded only one wicket for 110 runs.
