Saps at Sea was the final film Laurel and Hardy made at Hal Roach studios, and also their last film with Laurel and Hardy regulars Jimmy Finlayson and Charlie Hall. It also stars Mary Gordon, who played Mrs. Hudson opposite Basil Rathbone's Sherlock Holmes. Released in 1940, the plot concerns the pair renting a docked boat so that Ollie can convalesce near the sea air after a bout of 'hornophobia' (brought on by overwork at a horn factory). However, they end up adrift with an escaped criminal.
