Santo António (Ponta Delgada)

Santo António (Portuguese for Saint Anthony) is a parish in the district of Ponta Delgada in the Azores. The population in 2001 is 2,004, its density is 170.8/km² and the area is 11.73 km². It is located in the northwestern part of the island of São Miguel and is connected by roads linking Mosteiros and Ribeira Grande. The main industry are agriculture. Farmlands dominate the north and east while the mountainous areas cover the rest of Santo António. The main industry are agriculture. The Atlantic Ocean lies to the north. The laurisilva forests lie to the southwest along with the mountains. The parish of Ribeira Grande is bounded to the east.
