[edit] History

The school was established in 1872, and was originally located in the suburban Santa Clara near the border of Sunnyvale, California. Santa Clara High's current location was originally that of Buchser High School. Due to declining enrollment, the Santa Clara School District decided to transform two of its high schools into middle schools. Santa Clara High was moved to the Campus of Buchser, and Buchser was moved to Santa Clara High's previous campus and became Buchser Middle School.

In 1988 and 2001 Santa Clara High School was selected as a California Distinguished School.
