Santa Ana (Portuguese meaning Sainy Anne, also in Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK) is a village situated at the southwest of Santiago Island in Cape Verde. It is part of the municipality of Praia. The village is linked with the road linking south to Porto Gouveia and north to Pico as well as Rui Vaz as well as a road linking to places including Porto Mosquito, Cidade Velha and the national capital Praia and is about 20 km away, the rest are either linked with several rural roads or are not connected.

[edit] Geography
The area around Santa Ana are very rocky, bushy and grassy. Farmlands including crops, groves and pastures are in the valley areas particularly within the village. Grasslands and rocky mountain surround the village and further north is the island's tallest point known as the Pico da Antónia. The farm size is very small and they are the size of the farm is only the equivalent to almost the basketball or a volleyball field. Several parts of the valley remain slopey.

A part of the houses were built in the late-20th century, some homes are built with mud and brick as well as stone. The living standards are near the low to middle range as well as its income, one time, there were no money until the mid-20th century. The village is in the island's middle class. A part of the population are farmers and are based in agriculture where banana plantations, pineapple, livestock and other crops including fruits and vegetables are common, the rest works in shops, ports and other businesses including its ports, services and markets, the remainder are fishers. Electricity as well as communications, other necessities and phone lines were introduced and serves many houses since the mid-20th century and serves much of the population.

Santa Ana has a church, a middle school, and a square (praça or prasa). Its nearest school, secondary school are Porto Gouveia and Cidade Velha.
