Location of Sankt Johann im Pongau

St. Johann im Pongau or St.Johann/Pg. is a small town in the middle of the province of Salzburg in Austria. It is the capital of the district of Pongau. St. Johann im Pongau is located at 47°21′N 13°12′E, and has a population of about 10,400.

In July 2000 the town of St. Johann completed the Stadtserhebung process and received the official designation of "city" from the Austrian government.

On a hillside a few kilometers north of St. Johann lies the spot where Julie Andrews and crew filmed the opening shots of the "Do-Re-Mi" sequence in The Sound of Music.
