Sanjeev Sanyal

Sanjeev Sanyal is a well known Indian economist based in Singapore. He is currently Director, Global Markets Research at Deutsche Bank and Adjunct Fellow of the Institute of Policy Studies, Singapore. He played an important role in changing the image of India as an economy and international investment destination. More recently, he has attracted attention for arguing that Singapore is emerging as Asia's leading financial hub.

His major contributions are in financial markets, monetary economics, demographics and environmental accounting. He has been a Visiting Scholar at Oxford University and is Chief Regional Advisor (Asia-Pacific) to the John Templeton Foundation. He is Director of the Green Accounting for Indian States Project - it is the first attempt to recalculate a major country's GDP on a sustainable basis. He is also closely involved with Aavishkaar MicroVenture Fund which won the UN's World Business Award for 2006.

Educated at Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi and St.John's College, Oxford where he was a Rhodes Scholar (1992-1995).
