Born in Rome, Italy (5 February 1966), Sandro Nocentini started painting as a child strongly influenced in his early years by his artist mother, Alba Pratesi, and mentor Aldo Bandinelli, [now recognised among the finest Italian painters of the first half the twentieth Century].

It is only since arriving in Australia (1993), that painting became Nocentini's full time occupation. In fact, since August 1994 he has participated in a large number of Sydney exhibitions showing what have been described as "the bold paintings of Sandro Nocentini" (The Daily Telegraph). November 1996 saw the first solo exhibition of this "artist to watch" (Sydney Star Observer).

The artist lives now in Sydney where he also graduated with a degree in Fine Arts at the National Art School. In May 2005 Sandro Nocentini was awarded the prestigious Sulman Prize for his painting My Son Has Two Mothers.
