Sandown Mile

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Sandown Mile is a Group 2 flat horse race in the United Kingdom for four-year-old and above thoroughbreds run over a distance of 1 mile and 14 yards (1,622 metres) at Sandown Park racecourse in late April.

The race has had many different sponsors, the latest of which, since 2004, is Betfred. The "Betfred Mile" follows on from such previous incarnations as the "Trusthouse Forte Mile", the "Gardner Merchant Mile", the "KLM UK Mile", the "Masai Mile" and the "AtTheRaces Mile". It was first run in 1985.

It takes place at the same meeting as the Betfred Gold Cup (National Hunt) and the Betfred Classic Trial (flat).
