Sanctus Ignis is Adagio's first release (2001). Sanctus Ignis served to showcase Adagio's neo-classical influences more directly than their later albums; some find that Adagio only began to develop their unique sound with their sophomore release, Underworld. The album was written entirely by the band's guitarist, Stephan Forte.
