Newsweek ranked San Ramon Valley High School as the number one high school in the district in a 2006 study of US high schools. [edit] Clubs

San Ramon Valley High has a number of clubs geared towards all interests, among them are a Music Exploration Club, an Anime Club, a DDR club, and a variety of others. Many of these clubs such as the Key Club, NHS, and CSF are aimed at improving the community. Many clubs are often founded for the purpose of raising awareness of various cultures. Examples include the Asian Awareness Club, French Club, Jewish Student Union, Gay-Straight Alliance, and the Black Student Union.[1]

There are also a number of unofficial clubs. Among them is the Bubble Tea Club, known amongst themselves as "The Bub Rubbers", which is acknowledged for the help in keeping the local town of Walnut Creek's night life unpredictable and animated. Another now unofficial club, the Men's Civil Liberties Club already under heavy scrutiny from the administration for perceived sexism, was removed from the official clubs list because of an act of vandalism. During a track meet in Oregon, the founder of the Men's Civil Liberties Club used a permanent marker to write the URL of the club's website on a Nike truck. The website was tracked to the school and the club was disbanded. The clubs founder maintains that the club is no more sexist than the Asian Awareness Club is racist, and that the vandalism was the work of a single member and was not condoned by the club as a whole. However, the administrators retort that the vandal was the leader and founder of the club, and the vandalism was done in the name of the club, and therefore the club should be held responsible.[citation needed]

[edit] Notable Alumni
