San Prospero is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Modena in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna, located about 40 km northwest of Bologna and about 15 km northeast of Modena. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 5,087 and an area of 34.4 km2.[1]
The municipality of San Prospero contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) San Martino sul Secchia, San Lorenzo della Pioppa, San Pietro in Elda, and Staggia.
San Prospero borders the following municipalities: Bomporto, Camposanto, Carpi, Cavezzo, Medolla, Soliera.
