San Mateo is a 1st class urban municipality in the province of Rizal, Philippines. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 135,603 people in 28,162 households.

San Mateo is the location of the Earthaven Eco-village. San Mateo is also the location of Christ the Lord of Harvest Academy in AFP Village, Silangan. In this municipality, you can also find the Shrine of our Lady of Aranzazu with the Virgin Mary.

As of 2005, the mayor of San Mateo is Jose F. Diaz, and the vice mayor is Ariel T. Diaz.
