[edit] SMHS Marching Band
San Marcos High School Marching Band
Under the direction of Dan Garske and San Marcos alumni Jason Nam, the San Marcos High School Royal Marching Band continues to remain an excellent band program. Starting before the school year is out, the members meet twice a week, 6 hours a week, where they perfect their marching skills; reconditioning the veterans and working new members up to speed, along with their own Hell Week A.K.A Band Camp, which meets the week before school starts from 9AM to 9PM.
With alumni that have gone on to march in the Concord Blue Devils, such as Charlie Jarrott, Jacob Swartz, and Jason Nam, all of whom come back every summer to help the band reach its full potential.
Music is all original composition by Lozell Henderson . Head Marching Tech Dave Thompson, a graduate of rival school Dos Pueblos who then went on to march in a DCI, devotes almost all of his time to the band and is dedicated to the ensemble.
