[edit] Mission Statement

San Gabriel Mission High School, the "school with a mission," is an all-girl's Catholic high school located on the grounds of the fourth mission of California, which was founded in 1771 by the Franciscan Padres and often used by Father Junipero Serra as his headquarters.

The Dominican Sisters of San Jose, who arrived in California in 1876, have administered and taught at Mission since its founding in 1949. It was originally co-institutional, meaning that there were two schools under one roof, one for boys and one for girls. Each had its own principal. A few classes were co-educational.

San Gabriel Mission High School, a Catholic parish secondary school, commits itself to the mission of Christan education by the establishment of a community dedicated to the pursuit of the Dominican charism of "the search for Truth together." The school offers college preparatory and general academic programs to young women of diverse ethnic backgrounds who meet its academic and behavioral requrements and who strive toward their potential.

[edit] ASB / Student Council / Clubs

The Associated Student Body of San Gabriel Mission High School is a democracy based on parlimentry procedure that consists of five spots, and also works in conjunction with the Student Council of the school. Student Council (SC) is a collaboration of all club presidents and class boards in the school. Each Thursday they hold a meeting and go through certain orders of business around school that need their attention. The ASB advisor is Mrs. Stephanie D'Angi, who is also the Activities Director and Co-Head of the History Department.

Just last year, a new addition to San Gabriel Mission High School was added. The once Snow Ball turned into Homecoming. Homecoming was a nonformal dance, and now it is turned into a formal dance. On record the first Homecoming Queen was January 28, 2006. The court consisted of six girls, but the Homecoming Queen was no other than Miss Lucy Garcia Class of 2006
