San Antonio Prefreshman Engineering Program (San Antonio Prep in short) is a collaborative effort of local school districts, colleges and universities to encourage junior high school and high school students to begin preparing for scientific and engineering career paths in school. But there are rigorus tests conciquences and various chanlenges.

Founded by Dr. Manuel Berriozábal in 1979, a Professor of Math at a UTSA. Since then Over 11,000 students have enrolled and graduated.

In 2004, PREP enrolled 1,168 students, with 1,079 successfully completing the program.
Since the program's inception in 1979, 11,120 students have completed at least one summer component.

Of the 7,703 former participants who are of college age, 3,163 responded to the 2003 annual survey.

99.9% graduate from high school
89% are college students (1,080) or university graduates (1,745)
90% of the college attendees are college graduates
76% of the college graduates are members of minority groups
49% of the college graduates are science, mathematics, or engineering majors
71% of the science, mathematics, and engineering graduates are members of minority groups
84% of the college students (949), junior college graduates (35), and graduates (1,417) attended Texas colleges
47% of the college students (645), junior college graduates (25), and graduates (682) attended San Antonio area colleges
