[edit] Welcome

Hey there, Samluke777. Welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you enjoy being a Wikipedian and decide to stay! Here are a few good links for newcomers (or "oldcomers" for reference):

By the way, you should sign and date your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~. Three tildes (~~~) produces just your name. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!

Great, just what we need around this place... more 777 people. :) Cheers. --Lord Voldemort (Dark Mark) 20:44, 2 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Fellow Salopian!

Hello there fellow Salopian! Thank you for creating various articles about local stuff. Can I ask that you add in future the Shropshire category thing at the bottom of each page you create (well, the ones that are about Shropshire)? To do so, put Category:Shropshire in between the internal link boxes (aka a wikilink) at the bottom of the page's editing text. It just helps pool all the hundreds of articles about Shropshire together!

Keep up the good work! David 17:01, 5 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Battlefield

I usually reply in the other person's talk page as that way they will get a message saying that they have a new message (if you get what I mean). I don't think there is a rule.

See the Battlefield, Shropshire page and link in the Battlefield Enterprise Park article in from there. Try to create two individual articles for the village and the enterprise park.

You will find that Shropshire already has a huge number of articles - have a browse around the Shropshire categories (there are many more, branching off from the main category).

[edit] Non-free and unsourced images

Hi there. I've just looked through the images that you've uploaded, and many of them seem to have been uploaded under a mistaken understanding of the Wikipedia:Image use policy. Please, review that policy. Also, keep in mind that FreeFoto is a minefield for Wikipedia. The images there are not public domain, they are released under a non-commercial use only license, which Wikipedia cannot take advantage of because down-stream users of Wikipedia images are commercial.

Thank you for contributing, and I hope that you continue to do so, as you become more familiar with the policies of the site! -Harmil 15:37, 6 September 2005 (UTC)

First off, I want to be clear here. I haven't requested deletion of any images you've uploaded with one exception, and that one was just a duplicate. I've added the {{nosource}} tag, but that gives you plenty of time to decide what to do. I would suggest one of the following actions:
  • Remove the images from the articles that link to them and provide external links (i.e. in the External links section) to the site that hosts the images.
  • Or, you could take picutures to replace the images, upload them and change any articles to point to your new images (try to avoid uploading under the same name).
  • Or, you could seek out the original authors and request permission for the images to be used under a license like the CC-BY-SA-2.5 or the GFDL.
I'm just going through tons of images (yours included) and sorting out the licensing status. I'm not making any judgements about you or your contributions beyond that technical detail. I know that it's frustrating to not be able to just use images that are out there on the Web, but Wikipedia needs to be able to offer its images to users of the Wikipedia site and its down-stream sites without fear of legal action.
Thank you again, and happy editing! -Harmil 15:51, 6 September 2005 (UTC)
