Samolaco is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Sondrio in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 90 km north of Milan and about 40 km northwest of Sondrio. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,889 and an area of 45.3 km².^[1]

Samolaco borders the following municipalities: Gordona, Livo, Montemezzo, Novate Mezzola, Prata Camportaccio, Sorico, Vercana.
