Samaron

Samaron is a prominent Somali clan. Its members live predominantly in the Awdal region of northwest Somalia, and in smaller numbers in the Woqooyi Galbeed region. Although there is no functioning central government in Somalia, and Somaliland is not internationally recognized, the Samaron tribe has its own university, Amoud University. Children in Awdal region attend primary school from the age of six, and start kindergarten at the age of three, in contrast to other parts of Somalia. The Samaron economy mostly depends on livestock, agriculture, and fishing.
