Samail

Samail is a Wilayah (Town) located in the Dakhiliyah Region (Interior Region)of the Sultanate of Oman. Its pubulation is approx. 40,000 people. Samail is famous of it is history that goes beyond the pre-islamic era. The Fisrt Omani Muslim was from Samail, his name was Mazin Ben Ghadooba. Mazin built the fist mosque in Oman, & in consequence the people of Oman became Muslims, this was during the era of the Aabd and Jaifar the sons of the Julanda the kings of Oman at that time. The whole of Oman imbraced Islam peacefully with no war. Samail is famous as well for its dates trees that cover most of the land. Espcially the Fardh, the Mabsili & the Khasab types of dates. The are some dates processing factories in Samail. weaving is also a very old craft the people of Samail still practice. Samail has a number of forts and castles, such as the Samail Hosn (the castle of Samail) the Bait Al Khubar , the Al Shahbaa Fort and a big number of samll forts and watch towers. Samail is also famous of its WADI. Wadi Samail, is considered to be the biggest wadi in Oman & the water never stops in it. Samail's main land is splited into Saffalah & Alayah districts; nevertheless, there are about 35 villages and small towns belong to the municipality of Samail. Modern Samail became a centre for the travellers from the Interior of Oman and the south of Oman, thus, a modern hospital & clinics, post offices, police station, Wali office, and schools with all it levels as now everywhere in this old Wilayah.
