Sam Newfield
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sam Newfield (December 6, 1889 - November 10, 1964) also known as Sherman Scott or Peter Stewart, was an American B-movie director, with over 250 titles to his credit. Because of this massive output, sometimes releasing nearly 20 movies in a single year, he has been called the most prolific director of the sound era.[1]
Most of Newfield's movies were for PRC Pictures, a company which he ran with his brother Sigmund Neufeld. They were mostly low budget productions, the majority being westerns, with an occasional horror film or crime drama.

Sam Newfield was credited as Sherman Scott and as Peter Stewart on various films, in order to hide the fact that one person was responsible for so many of the PRC films.[2]
