He's bullied many people in the past (Nick Boulevard, Leonig Mig, tried to bully me, etc.), i'd just copy what you told me to the Arb Com Member's Talk Pages and ask an opinion on how to make him stop, preferrable a WP:TROLL related injunction. karmafist 21:49, 5 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Hello Salty!
I need to prepare The Clearlake DAB. There are many Clearlake parks, lakes, towns, cities, activities, counties & municipalities and I need to list them to be linked.
Would you title the band Clearlake, Clearlake, the Band? Thank you so much, Lakelover

[edit] British Sea Power names
Please quit this deletion unless you want an RfC. They can call themselves Wibby, Wobby, Woo and Wanko for all I care, but while their real names are on record in published sources (e.g. [3]) it's available information for inclusion in the articles, in line with articles on other musicians who work under pseudonyms such as Sting (musician) and Fish (singer). Tearlach 02:17, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
- It isn't me... SaltyWater 02:18, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
- No doubt, but I have to assume collusion as you've made similar deletions in the past, and have edited the articles since 216.80.64.26 (talk • contribs)'s deletions and haven't corrected them. This has gone on long enough: further deletions of the names, from you or anyone, will be treated as vandalism. Tearlach 02:31, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I refuse to re-add the content, as I personally think it is wrong. However I will not remove anything as I know I can't. I am not 216.80.64.26 (talk • contribs). Please don't accuse me of things I haven't done. I have nothing to do with this. SaltyWater 02:33, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
- as I personally think it is wrong
- That, despite it being counterintuitive, is a feeling we all have to get over (believe me, I have been there myself). The sole criterion is what published sources say. Verifiability, not truth, and all that. Tearlach 02:52, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not going to re-add them if/when they're removed, but I'm not going to get in the way of the being re-added. And I'm not going to remove them myself because I can't. Simple as that. This has nothing to do with me. I'm not causing any problems, am I? SaltyWater 02:57, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:MorrisseyPromo2006.jpg
|
Thanks for uploading Image:MorrisseyPromo2006.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Arniep 22:08, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
- I don't understand what any of that means but the image is a promo photo from his official website, True to You, so I presume it's free to be used anywhere. Hope this helps. SaltyWater 22:14, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, that site is not his official website its a fanzine. We have an image free of copyright for Morrissey so that should go at the top of the article. If you want to use that photo at the top you need to email the website owner and ask if they own the copyright to the photo, if they do will they release it under a free license such as Creative Commons or GFDL. Thanks Arniep 22:50, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
- It is officially endorsed by Morrissey and his label, Sanctuary Records. The image is a promotional photograph, which has been used in a number of press articles etc. SaltyWater 22:57, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
- It doesn't matter whether it's officially endorsed, also please do not use confrontational edit summaries such as "anyone with a brain can tell". As I said before as we already have a free image of Morrissey we can't use any copyrighted photo under fair use which stipulates in the absence of a free alternative. I'm sure Morrissey would agree to license one of those photos under a free license if you asked him. Arniep 12:37, 9 April 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah whatever. SaltyWater 12:44, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Good Article fail
I only failed the article because some of the claims were not cited by primary sources, such as the live performance descriptions. By adding a few citations on claims like that, you can easily get this promoted. — Deckiller 23:02, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot for your help. I'll work on it. SaltyWater 23:16, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Date prefs
The Avoid overlinking dates section of WP:MOSDATE is a subset of the Date formatting section. So, I think unless there is a strong reason applies only to dates which are incomplete (as it describes them). When formatting does not apply, the only reason to bracket dates is for relevance, and/or broader understanding; but, in cases where formatting will work, the MOS says not required to link full dates, but most full dates in Wikipedia are linked...
There is a long discussion ongoing about overlinking dates in general (see Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style (dates and numbers)#linking of dates if you want). The focus has mostly been on incomplete dates.
I'll refrain from reverting the article again, but thought I'd explain my rationale for the changes. Neier 13:29, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah whatever. SaltyWater 14:27, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Request for Adminship
It is my regretful task to inform you that I have closed your request for adminship early as unlikely to achieve consensus. Please do not be discouraged; a number of users have had their first RfA end without consensus, but have been promoted overwhelmingly in a later request. Please continue to make outstanding contributions to Wikipedia, and consider requesting adminship again in the future. You may find Wikipedia:Guide to requests for adminship helpful in deciding when to consider running again. If I can be of any help to you, please do not hesitate to ask. - It's the cover of a single taken, is that okay? I presume so as there is space in the single infobox for artwork and I haven't seen problems before. I don't know what to do about it though to help. SaltyWater 12:28, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Cut and paste moves
Agh! I didn't know you were going to cut and paste everything. I guess you didn't notice the 'move' button at the top. Not to worry, anyway, I'll soon fix it. Cut and paste moves are bad because they destroy the edit history, which causes copyright problems (see WP:CUTPASTE). If you want to move a page in future, you should use the move button, or if it needs help from an admin, ask at Wikipedia:Requested moves. Don't let me catch you again! :) Flowerparty☀ 00:36, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
- I'm really sorry! I tried using move but it didn't work, didn't realise you needed an admin to help. Apologies again! SaltyWater 00:48, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
- Don't worry about it, it's all fixed now, I believe. I think you were right about the move, anyway: now that I've sorted out the links, compare Special:Whatlinkshere/The Fall (the band article) to Special:Whatlinkshere/The Fall (novel) - seems pretty clear-cut to me. Take care. Flowerparty☀ 01:11, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Childhood Memories
Are you sure that the single and album versions are the same? I have two versions, one from the US version of "The Decline of…" The other version I have sounds very different; it is slower and less uptempo. I assumed that it was the single version, which was the reason for my revision. What could it be then? I appreciate your insight. -Obi-Jon 01:31, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
- There were two demos doing the rounds on the internet. They're 3:42 and 3:36 long, and more mellow (haven't listened to them for a while but I think one or both may not have the "move a little faster" ending). So it might be one of those. All the Best, SaltyWater 10:21, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
- Mine is 3:36, so I assume it's one of those. Thanks, Obi-Jon 01:40, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] MoS date links
Hey up, Salty. Good work with the formatting here. The MoS doesn't say to delink all dates, however - if there is a month, day and year, then the date has to be linked for users' date preferences to work, so '28th March 2006' is no good. See WP:DATE for some gripping reading :) Flowerparty☀ 02:21, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] License tagging for Image:TheYoungKnives.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:TheYoungKnives.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Links section
Hi SaltyWater, I´m beginner at wikipedia, so you problably can help me, I see you always keeping the Moz page OK. I have a website with Smiths and Morrissey bootlegs, more than 300 cover artwork is available to download, and a lot of gigs too, I put the site as a fanpage in The Smiths section of wikipedia. Please visit my site at www.akiraware.com and tell me if I can put the site too in the Moz links section fan sites or if my site can be considered spam because it already listed in another page, if the last one option no problem, I will not bore again Regards, Akira
- Thanks for the message. I don't think that site would really be relevant in the links section, especially as I think bootlegs are illegal material. Nice site though. But what do I know - if you really want it add it it might be worth starting a discussion on the Morrissey talk page but I'd be guessing it's best not to put it there. Thanks, SaltyWater 17:29, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the tip, I will not put in the links i´m looking for a opinion and yours is really helpfull to me, thanks a lot.
