Salvador de Iturbide y de Marzán

Don Salvador of Iturbide (Mexico City 18/Sept/1849-Ajaccio, Corsica 26/Feb/1895) , son of His Highness Prince Salvador of Iturbide-Huarte and Her Highness, Princess Rosario of Marzán-Guisasola; Grandson of His Imperial Majesty, Austin I, and great-great-grandson of the Marquis of Altamira. Adopted by Emperor Maximilian I (13/Sept/1865). He was member of the Order of the Grand Cross of Our Lady of Guadalupe and awarded with the Personal Order of Charles (the Duke of Madrid).

His adoptive mother, Empress Carlota of Mexico sent him to France, where he lived at Paris until 1867, when he moved to Hungary showing his rejection to the emperor Napoleon III. When living in the Austrian empire, he claimed Franz Joseph a pension as his right as being official son of Maximilian I. While living in Hungary, he become close friend of Baron Gyula Gaspar Mikos of Tarrodhaza. While staying in the Mikos State, he was introduced to Baroness Gizella, the introduction turned to romance and on the 21st of June 1871 Don Salvador and Baroness Gizela were married at Mikos castle in Hungary.

Some time later, he moved to Venice, and lived in a palace, rented to Count Zeno. In this place, he became a close friend of Charles, Duke of Madrid, the Carlist pretendant of the Spanish throne. While visiting Corsica, he became sick and died of an appendix rupture.
