Sallustia Orbiana
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sallustia Barbia Orbiana Augusta (fl. 220s) was the wife of Roman Emperor Alexander Severus.
Daughter of Seius Sallustius, Orbiana married Alexander Severus in 225, receiving the title of Augusta. When her father was put to death in 227 on the charge of attempted murder of the emperor, Orbiana was sent in exile to Libya.
A notable statue of Sallustia, represented as Venus Felix, was unearthed near the church of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme. The marble, now in the Cortile Belvedere of the Vatican Museums, was dedicated the empress by her liberti, Helpidius and Sallustia.[1]
