Sallie W. Chisholm

Sallie W. (Penny) Chisholm is an oceanographer. She is currently a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She co-discovered with R.J. Olson in 1986, Prochlorococcus, the most abundant photosynthetic organism in the ocean. She has been member of the United States National Academy of Sciences since 2003.
