Salford Central Railway Station is one of two railway stations in the Salford city centre in Greater Manchester, England. It is located in proximity to Manchester City Centre although it is on the opposite side of the River Irwell therefore geographically placing it within the city boundaries of Salford.

It is served by trains to and from Manchester Victoria, towards Salford Crescent, Bolton, Wigan Wallgate and beyond.

The famous 5 star Lowry Hotel is situated within five minutes walking distance from the station and Manchester City Centre is easily accessible either on foot or by a short ride on public transport, including the free Metroshuttle bus (No. 3) from New Bailey Street although there is presently no taxi rank serving the Station.

The other station is at Salford Crescent, well placed for the University of Salford and a relatively short walk from Salford Shopping Centre.

Salford Central Railway Station is managed by Northern Rail. Currently, it does not have comprehensive facilities for rail travellers and is little used outside the commuter rush hours (there is no Sunday service). However, plans are in progress for a major facelift to complement the extensive commercial development ongoing in nearby Spinningfields and Deansgate in Manchester, and the regeneration of Chapel Street, Salford
