Sakuma Morishige

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sakuma Morishige (佐久間盛重?) (d.1560) was a Japanese samurai who served Oda Nobunaga.

In the year of 1560 during the Imagawa invasion of Owari (Battle of Okehazama), Morishige was appointed to the defence of Marune Fortress against the attack by Matsudaira Motoyasu, who later named himself Tokugawa Ieyasu . He could not withstand the violent attack of Matsudaira, who is told to have used guns effectively, and the fortress fell in to the hands of Matsudaira.
