Sakata no Kintoki

Sakata no Kintoki a retainer of the legendary hero Raikoh (who was at times known as Minamoto no Yorimitsu) during the Heian period (12th century) of Japan. Kintoki, along with Urabe no Suetake, Watanabe no Tsuna, and Usui Sadamitsu became known as The Four Guardian Kings under the legendary Raikoh. This legendary tale is often referred to as Ooeyama. Throughout the many paintings that were devoted to the legendary Kintoki, one depicts Kintoki lodged within the chambers of his master, ready to capture the monstrous ground spider during the year of 1185. Kintoki was often also used in many Kabuki plays, which included the other retainers. Kintoki originated from the House of Suzaku (Red Phoenix).

Throughout the game known as Otogi 2 that was developed by From Software, Kintoki wields a large axe as his main weapon, known as the 'Crimson Axe'. Kintoki, at some point, served under the Imperial Army and fought alongside his old friend, Masakado (the headless warrior). Kintoki had vowed to rid the capital of its evil. Kintoki is forced to strike down his old friend, Masakado who had turned evil.
