Also I should point that in on Wikipedia "Talk pages," new topics are placed on the bottom of the page instead of the top. It may seem strange but the reason we do it is so the discussion is in chronological order. If you have any other queries about how Wikipedia works, you can ask me. Thank you. [edit] Hinduism reorganisation
Hello suj, one of the biggest problems in the Hinduism article is that there is so much to talk about but there is not enough space (Wikipedia policies state that the page should not become very long). I think you should try to ask all the Hindu Wikipedians here and others who help write Hinduism articles here. You can send a message to everyone on this List as well as User:Dbachmann whose name is not there but contributes a lot.
Another problem is that there are many "anti-Hindus" here and "extreme pro-Hindus" which are anti-Muslim etc. These people often argue with each other and many controversial things happen. At the moment I do not have much time to help unfortunately because I have school exams coming up soon. When they finish I will try to help. You may realise that the Hinduism article is too hard to make it a Featured Article, so maybe you try to improve another article. The guru Shankaracharya is an FA, and some Good Articles (one step below FA) we have are Rama, Ganesha and Sanskrit. Good luck. GizzaChat © 00:39, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for helping on the Hinduism article. It is nice to see somebody making edits that are high quality (there have been problems lately with people making well-intentioned but really bad edits).HeBhagawan 16:47, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
Other than the yogas, which aspects of the Hinduism page do you think are not universal? And which are the main universal points that you think it SHOULD contain? HeBhagawan 21:27, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

- I am new to Hinduism (less than a year) and I have heard of the Shaiva Shrastas. But what are they, are they like the Puranas, and is it possible for an american to convert to Hinduism on his own behalf after years of study. It's just I have so much respect for India and it's people. And I have been a vegetarian for a year now--Seadog.M.S 18:32, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Copyrighted material
Thank you for your note on my discussion page about material I recently deleted. Although I deleted it, I am not an admin on Wikipedia. The owner of the copyrighted material probably needs to contact an admin regarding that material. The website has a very clear copyright statement on its front page. My understanding of Wikipedia policy is that unless a website clearly states that it's material is licensed under the GFDL then the material cannot be copied and pasted to Wikipedia; even if the person doing the copying and pasting claims to be the copyright holder. As I said, I'm not an admin, so the final disposition of the material is not up to me. But thanks for letting me know, I was already aware of the claims that my fellow contributor was making regarding their ownership of the material. TheRingess 21:31, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Portal Bangladesh
Happy Diwali. I am a fan of yours and wanting to send a msg for many days. Today I went to Portal Bangladesh and saw it has not been updated for many days (especially the news). I am interested in working on it and can update the news section regularly. It would be better if you give me some advice. It would also be better if someone can create an archive for each of the section. Please reply if you want.Tarif Ezaz Bangladesh 20:23, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Tantra
Hi Shaivasuj, I will try to help with the tantra-related articles. Thanks for your efforts on those!
You are right that Tantra is an important part of Hinduism. Within the main Hinduism article itself I have tried to minimize references to ALL the sects as much as possible, to avoid making that article too complex and long. And others always come along and want to add additional details about their own sects.Of course, it is necessary to mention the various sects to some extent, but they can only get the detailed attention they deserve in their own articles, so I will help however I can. Jai Ma HeBhagawan 19:45, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
If you get a chance, please provide your thoughts on the debate over the wording of a paragraph on karma on the Hinduism discussion page. The debate is not over doctrine, it is primarily over wording and clarity. Thanks! HeBhagawan 20:22, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
Sorry I haven't had a chance to help with the tantra stuff yet. Good work with the Hinduism article, though, and thanks for your comments on the discussion page. HeBhagawan 15:24, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Tantra
You may want to note that a new version of the Tantra article has been started at Tantra/temp. Perhaps it would be best to develop that article to the point that it can be moved into place to replace the admittedly ghastly one. Ekajati (yakity-yak) 19:33, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
Yes, I agree with this approach. Sometimes it is better to just start from scratch. This applies to several other articles in the project as well.HeBhagawan 15:24, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Hinduism and an award
Hello Saiva suj, I am so sorry for not replying quickly to your question. I have been very busy, I hope your not offended in any way. You asked why do I desire to follow the Sanatan Dharm. It is very personal in my life but I shall relate a few things to you. When I was younger I stumbled on the Bhagavad Gita, this changed my life forever. I listed closly to Krishna's words as it felt that he was speaking directly to me. I could see the Cosmic Vision right before my eyes. I have been drawn to Hinduism ever since I saw the mystic symbol of the universe AUM. I recently read the Upanishads and the Ved (Rig Veda) and I again was transformed by Their power. I remember always being drawn to the great country of India. I am also a Non-Violent person and a strict Vegetarian. I can not go into every detail of my great desire of the Sanatan Dharm because it would take a life time. I hope my reasons do not seem "Immature" in your mind and viewing. It is just who I am. And here take this Barnstar for all your work in Hinduism related articles keep up the good work.--Seadoge 23:27, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Kama & Artha are lower Purusharths is a wrong statement.
One could say for deploring Kama & Artha as lower Purusharths. It could have been said, just to make people move to Dharma & Moksha. Lot of Sanyasees try to deplore Kama & Artha, particularly Jain Sadhus try to create hate in the minds of people living family life.
Does one not need money to do one's religious duties or support Sanyasees or Brahmins or religious institutions? Krishna has said in Srimad Bhagawad Geeta that "Kama" is my "Vibhuti." In Hindu doctrines "Kama" is supported confining sexual pleasure with one's wedded spouse in the witness of fire (A form of God), Brahmin and society. Is it possible to conquer "Kama" by any average person? Vishwamitra also sliped. When Krishna declared "Kama" as Krishna's "Vibhuti" who are we to deplore "Kama"? Indian has n' number of Sanyasees. With due respect to Swami Bhaskaranandji, I say that anything said in a particular situation or a context should not be incorporated in an article like Wikipedia which shall remain on a public forum for a long long future. Hope everyone will see the damage being done to Hindusim and restrain from continuing with statements deploring 4 pursuits of life. Swadhyayee 14:40, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Hello, I am having some trouble with the "ref" tags on Kashmir Shaivism, I have included two, and the little supertexts display correctly, however, there is not reference part at the end of the page. I am not sure if I'm supposed to add something or not.
Thank you very much :) Saiva suj 17:03, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
- You are welcome and I just realised that you are Indian. So here's the official invitation :)

[edit] Tantra linking
Namaskar! :) Please feel free to edit the links on the Tantrism page but only *after* you've created the stub articles for it, all ght? I saw some grammatical errors there as well, so I formatted the monist and dualist bits into a form that's easy to navigate if the reader wants to know what on earth monism and dualism are--basic Wikipedia editing, really. I recommend that you do the stub articles on the various paths first and then link them separately to their own pages, so the explanation of them (i.e. my links to clarify what monism and dualism are) can stay intact on the page. All right?:) I just made it easier to navigate so the reader (who might not even know what tantra is) wouldn't be disappointed by so many red links on the page, that's all. Keep up the good work--I really look forward to your further articles on Tantric texts!:). It's so difficult to find good, reliable information on the wisdom of the Tantras in English. I really appreciate your work:). Namaste. --Snowgrouse 18:35, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Voting on Hinduism
I just wanted to let you know that on the Hinduism discussion page, where you voted for Priyanath's version of the section on caste, his version has been changed slightly. In case this affects your vote, you are free to change. I think I am actually going to change my vote to his new paragraph rather than voting for my own. lol HeBhagawan 05:56, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Can you add Naivedhya?
Can you add Naivedhya to glossary, you seem to be familiar with Sanskrit text. This does not mean that I am withdrawing my request to add this to article Hinduism. swadhyayee 09:58, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
My request to you was as I believe you can type in Sanskrit. Can you check in some Sanskrit dictionary if you have. Looking to your knowledge of Sankrit, you might be having one. swadhyayee 17:17, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
No, it is not correct. "dh" pronounciation would be that of "dhaja". "dhy" or "dhya" will be pronounced together. Glossary link is here [[1]]

[edit] Help me
I would like to know if there are any standards on the distribution/selection of sources for an article. This is specifically in regards to discussions in Hinduism and Tantra. I feel that in both cases, the article has been severely lop-sided to a POV that is not neutral, because of the choice of sources. ॐ नमःशिवाय Śaiva Sujīt सुजीत ॐ 00:58, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Dear सुजीत ॐ,
I am deadly against HeBhagawan for his not allowing other's inclusions. I have also doubts of difficulties of varifying his citations but one thing I would like to point out is, Hinduism has it's roots in Vedant and there may be lot many things which appear to be Vedanti. What's your objection? What wrong are you finding against your mind or against Hinduism? Sujit, there are lot many things of general knowledge for which citations can not be found and is not required. I am not taking side of HeBhagawan who is dominating the contents of this article. He points out all Wikipedia policies. He has taken citing Wikipedia policy his business, the only thing he deliberately ignores is that this is free software means freely editable by any.
I have not read "Tantra" as I am not sure whether I have the knowledge of it or not but if you could put it on talk page of Hinduism, we can just discuss and give the contributor a fair chance to change or include more. It may not be POV but it's just recent inclusion and may be in process of further additions.
Pl. give your mind on talk page of Hinduism and a fair chance to contributor to change the contents or in alternate change it yourself and wait for someone to appreciate or object. swadhyayee 01:51, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

I would like to post the link http://www.muktabodhalib.org/index2.htm as an External Link for Tantra, as it is the most valuable resource for tantrikas, making freely available a huge range of tantrika texts. It is a free online library, and requires non-invasive registration. Is this permitted? Please do look at the registration process yourself. ॐ नमःशिवाय Śaiva Sujīt सुजीत ॐ 17:08, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, at a brief glance it looks OK, I can't give you permission as such just an opinion. For more detail you can look at guidance on external links which gives a more detailed view of what is an isn't permissible. When using {{helpme}} please avoid putting it as the section heading, it doesn't render properly and makes it difficult for helpers to edit just the section. --pgk 19:32, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Thank you very very much Saiva_Sujit for placing Karmanyeva... in Sanskrit. I have not studied Sanskrit. I will check it with my copy of Geeta and let you know if there is any mistake.
Re:"Kasa Hain" If you were speaking in Hindi, it should be "Kaisa Hain?" If you tried to speak marathi, it would be "Kasa Aahet?" or "Kasa Hai/Hay?". Though I am from Mumbai, Marathi is not my mother tounge.
Thank you very very much once again.
