Saint Éloigné des voies ferrées
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Saint Éloigné des voies ferrées is a fictional French-Canadian saint. It actually refers to a place. The expression translates to (Saint very far away from the railroad). It is a French Canadian equivalent of the English in the middle of nowhere. In the French province of Quebec in Canada, due the strong influence of the Roman Catholic Church in the past, a great number of small towns were named after saints, hence Saint Éloigné des voies ferrées simply stands for a place that is just very far away.
