Saint-François, Quebec

Saint-François (before Saint-François-de-Sales) is the second largest neighbourhood of Laval after Duvernay. It was a separate city until the 1965 municipal mergers.

This neighbourhood is mainly made up of agricultural fields. Located at the extreme East of Jesus island (Laval), it is delimited :

• North by the Rivière des Mille-Îles;
• South by the Rivière des Prairies;
• West by the neighbourhood of Auteuil
• South by the neighbourhood of Duvernay.

A residential agglomeration is formed in the south-east of the neighbourhood. A small conflict takes place between certain people for the construction of a bridge that would be link with Montreal, but the ecologists don't want it because that would destroy a wet microclimate where rare species in Quebec live.
