SaiPACS is an opensource software developed for the Primary Agricultural Credit/ Co-Operative Society primarily located in Himachal Pradesh state of India.

[edit] What are PACS ?
Primary Agricultural Credit / Co-Operative Society , lies at the bottom of Co-Operative Structure. These are mini banks working mostly on principle of micro credit . A PACS may not employ more than 5 people, a typical organisational chart for PACS would be as 
[edit] Share Holders / Members
These are majorly farmers or individuals who lie within PACS area of operation. Area of operation is the geographic representation of the PACS which majorly consist villages, it is with in this area of operation a PACS can accept share holders. Share holders are normally called members. They can buy shares in multiple of 100 or the amount defined in the by laws of the PACS. A member in return gets the privilege of Unsecured loans on lower rates. Some PACS offer high interest rates to their members for Savings . Majorly all PACS keep a detailed record of members including but not limited to land details and family income. On basis of these records the committees with guidelines from Government decide the Maximum Credit Limit of a member.

This is elected group of members who administrate the core employees in various operations. The head of the committee is called a Pradhan

SaiPACS was being promoted by Sai Hertz and Control System Pvt Ltd in Himachal Pradesh. On completion of SaiPACS the project was made available under GPL licence.Sai Hertz and Control System Pvt Ltd no longer claim any rights or would entertain liability for SaiPACS. Now SaiPACS's source code is hosted at http://sourceforge.net/projects/saipacs .
