Sahra Wagenknecht

Sahra Wagenknecht (born on 16 July 1969 in Jena) is a German politician and Member of the European Parliament with the Party of Democratic Socialism, part of the European Left and sits on the European Parliament's Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs.
She is a substitute for the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, a member of the Delegation for relations with the countries of the Andean Community and a substitute for the Delegation for relations with Mercosur.

- 1990-1996: Studied philosophy and modern German literature at Jena, Berlin and Groningen

- Reading for doctorate in economics
- 1991-1995 and since 2000: Member of the PDS Executive
- 1985-1989: Member of the Goethe Society (GDR)
- since 2004: Spokeswoman for Venezuela Avanza solidarity association
