Sagae, Yamagata

Sagae (寒河江市; -shi) is a city in Yamagata, Japan.

As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 43,379 and the density of 311.90 persons per km². The total area is 139.08 km².

The city was founded on August 1, 1954.

Sagae is famous for its Cherryland tourist attraction. Yamagata Prefecture is the largest producer of cherries in Japan.
