I'm Safalra. I first became aware of Wikipedia when it started showing up in the referrer logs of my website (http://www.safalra.com). I registered an account on 2nd April 2006.
[edit] Citing sources
The citation of sources ensures that Wikipedia content is verifiable, with no original research. There are several different citation styles in use in Wikipedia, with the guideline that each article should use a single citation style throughout. My personal preference is to use the footnotes system along with citations following the guidelines described in chapters 16 and 17 of The Chicago Manual of Style (15th edition). The footnotes system is adequated described elsewhere on Wikipedia; here I will explain the citation style.
[edit] Citing webpages
The format for citing webpages is:
- author, "title", publisher, URL (accessed yyyy-mm-dd)
For example:
Many websites do not cite the authors of pages; in this case, I use the domain portion of the URL as the author.
[edit] Adding IPA pronunciation guides
Many articles lack pronuncation guides, or feature pronunciation guides that are either incorrect or in a non-standard phonetic system. I've added IPA pronunciation guides to the following articles:
Bishopsteignton, Brixham, Dawlish, Exmouth, Devon, Kingsteignton, Lyme Regis, Paignton, River Teign, Starcross, Teignmouth, Torbay, Torquay, Totnes, Uvula, and Vichyssoise
