She was the daughter of Shaiba ibn Hashim (Abd al-Muttalib) and thus Muhammad's aunt. ^[1] and Ali's aunt ^[2].

She was married to Awwam ibn Khuwaylid ^{[citation needed]} and was the mother of Zubayr ibn al-Awwam ^[2].
