Safarali Kenjayev

Safarali Kenjayev was the former speaker of the Supreme Soviet in Tajikistan. Kenjayev, a pro-government loyalist, was a key player in the escalation of tensions leading up to the outbreak of civil war in Tajikistan in 1992. Kenjayev later turned against the government of Emomali Rahmonov and was murdered in 1998. His murder was never solved. Kenjayev was a member of the Yaghnobi community.
