Saeed Khan Rangeela

Saeed Khan Rangeela (Urdu: سعید خان رنگیلا) (b. 1937 - May 24, 2005) was a famous Pakistani comedian, who was featured in nearly 300 Urdu and Punjabi-language films. At a very young age he was brought to a wealthy family in Peshawar city (N.W.F.P.), where he spent several years of his teenage and he worked as a servant and he performed some house duties such as washing dishes, cleaning the floors and bringing grocery from the stores for Nasir Ahmed Khan and his five sons. He was also treated as a son and the member of the family. In early 1950’s Nasir Ahmed khan’s eldest son Jamil Ahmed Khan, who at that time a well known film direct, composer, writer and producer decided to take Saeed Khan Rangeela with him to Bari Studio Lahore, and offered him the house servant position in a Lahore. Saeed Khan Rangeela then decided to work in small role-plays in movies and Director Jamil Ahmed Khan fully supported him. Jamil Ahmed Khan is also the writer of one of the famous song which was sang and perfomed by Saeed Khan Rangeela. Saeed Khan Rangeela is also known as “Sheera”. . His movie career started back in the late 1950s. Despite acting in the movies he also directed many of them. He also sung many songs and wrote some scripts. He was married thrice and a son also tried his luck at acting in some movies but failed. One of his daughters is an elected councilor in Lahore and the other is a CPA(Certified Public Accountant) in USA. He belonged to a Pathan family from Afghanistan who came to Peshawar and then settled down in Lahore.
