Sada Thompson

Sada Thompson (September 27, 1929 in Des Moines, Iowa) is an acclaimed American stage, film and television actress.

Thompson first appeared in television in 1954 in a Goodyear Television Playhouse production and made her Broadway debut in 1959. She went on to an illustrious career that included a 1972 Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play, two Drama Desk Awards for Outstanding Performance (1970 & 1972) and the Drama Desk Vernon Rice Award in 1957. She is a two-time winner of the Sarah Siddons Award, given for outstanding performances in Chicago theatre. Her long and successful career on stage resulted in being elected to the American Theatre Hall of Fame.

Ms. Thompson is also an Emmy Award winner for her role in the television series, Family, which is the character for which she is best known.
