The Sachsen Society is a secretive, coed fraternity/sorority at Whittier College. It was founded in the 1940s by soldiers who served in Sachsenberg, Germany. In 1972, the Sachsen Society began allowing women to join the group, making it one of the first organizations of its type to do so (thus, the orgies). In 1991, Whittier College mandated new restrictions on its ten Societies. The Sachsen Society refused to comply with the new restrictions and became an underground organization (usually drunk under the table).

The Sachsen Society re-entered the campus as a recognized society in 2005 (and re-entered into themselves). The Sachsen Society is now one of ten members of the Inter-Society Council. It remains the only recognized co-ed society on Whittier College's campus.
