Sabina Park

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sabina Park is a historic cricket ground in Kingston, Jamaica in the West Indies.

It is one of the smallest and possibly the most picturesque Test match grounds in the Caribbean, framed by the Blue Mountains to the north and Kingston Harbour to the south. The once imposing George Headley stand to the south is now dwarfed by the newly constructed North Stand which underlines the grounds' development for the upcoming 2007 World Cup tournament. Complete with two electronic scoreboards, modernization has come to Sabina. Richard Blackford, a Jamaican cricket artist captures the character of the old ground in his "First Ball" piece which can be seen in the gallery of his website at: www.imagesofthegame.com .

The first Test played there was between West Indies and England in 1930.

It includes the George Headley Stand, named after the Jamaican cricket hero.
