[edit] Merge

This is almost word for word from the Macaca incident coverage on the George Felix Allen page. I suggest a merge, then replacing this page with a redirect to the Allen page. This page is essentially redundant information. Richardjames444 18:32, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

True, I originally cut and pasted much from the George Allen page to make this page. On the George Allen page I wrote in the discussion that Sidarth deserves a page and that there should be shortened coverage on George Allen's page and a link here since the implications of this are not yet known and it shouldn't dominate the George Allen page. Putting it on the George Allen page makes that page a news reel. Putting it here puts it's (unknown) level of importance in context. Claymoney 19:19, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

Actually, I think a better place for the bulk of the topic would be on the 2006 election article. This really is more of a campaign issue than a major Allen topic as it occured within the context of the campaign. --StuffOfInterest 19:21, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
I can't agree. This could be a career-ending moment for Allen, so belongs on his page rather than a general campaign article. Richardjames444 19:32, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
We can't futurecast. It certainly should be mentioned on his page, but unless we suddenly see his poll numbers drop 15 points I wouldn't put excessive significance on it. --StuffOfInterest 19:34, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
I'd agree to have it on the 2006 election article as opposed to here or on the Allen page. It happened within the past few days. The George Allen page shouldn't be a newsreel. Claymoney 19:37, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Merged

I redirected the article to George Felix Allen#Macaca controversy for now. Depending on the result of some other conversations, I might change it to the Virginia U.S. Senate election, 2006#The Macaca/monkey incident at some point, which would be substantively the same. Richardjames444 01:24, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

just because the entry for this man was solely about an incident, doesn't mean his page should redirect to senator allen's. what a silly idea. does allen's page tell me biographical info about this man? where was he born? how old is he? where did he go to school? i mean, shouldn't "george allen" just redirect me to "US Senate" then? ridiculous.
--Heterodoxus 01:27, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

The argument that has been presented is that Sidarth is not notable individually, but people might search for his name only in relation to the Allen incident. It's the acceptable argument to deleting the article entirely. Richardjames444 01:30, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

part of the point is where he was born. allen said "welcome to america". but the guys was born in virginia. how will people know if you don't list it? he deserves his own page. even if it's two lines.
--Heterodoxus 05:19, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

It says in the George Allen article that he is 'Indian-American', I don't know if it is all that important to get into every minute detail to show just how much of an ass George Allen is- it seems pretty clear that he is one. Richardjames444 10:54, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

It also says in the Allen article that he was born and raised in Virginia, which should take care of your objections. Richardjames444 12:43, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Why don't we direct it to the 2006 Elections page? Claymoney 14:23, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

Go for it, as long as it directs to the particular section. Richardjames444 14:33, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Birth year

Do we know it? He won't be 20 years old forever, and we don't want to update that number every year for the rest of his life. Biruitorul 07:14, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Can we assume it is 1976 ? RaveenS 13:31, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
1986 sounds better to me, if he's 20. Biruitorul 02:50, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sidarth is an American Icon

  • Definitely deserves his own page. A man that by keeping his cool and keeping the camera rolling changed American history. A genuine American hero. The classic butterfly effect of chaos theory. Like Allen, tall, a student of U.Va, football jock, but a lot smarter by bounds! Watch for him to go far Godspeed John Glenn! Will
