S2 Engine

The S² Engine, otherwise known as the S² organ, is a biological organ found in Angels and Evangelions of the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion. Like the label that appears on Pen-Pen's tag, the '2' superscript refers to the fact that the acronym S2 refers to two S's rather than S(squared). The acronym stands for Super Solenoid. The organ exhibits perpetual energy production The S2 engine is often confused with the core, a red sphere visible in the abdomen of some angels. Eva Unit 01 consumed an S² of Zeruel in Episode 19 - Introjection.
