S-LCD Corporation (Hangul: 에스 엘씨디, Japanese: エス・エルシーディー) is a joint venture between Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd (50% plus 1 share) and Sony Corporation (50% minus 1 share) established in April 2004 in Chungcheongnam-do, Korea. S-LCD currently operates with a monthly production capacity of 60,000 display panels (7th Generation Amorphous Silicon) which are integrated into both Samsung Electronics and Sony LCD televisions.

- April 19, 2006, S-LCD announced the expansion of monthly production capacity for 7th Generation Amorphous Silicon TFT LCD display panels to 90,000 panels.
- S-LCD Corporation decided on an additional investment of 28 billion JPY for existing 7th generation production facility expansion. The investment will be funded by S-LCD itself. The announced investment will increase the capacity by 15,000 panels a month, resulting in an estimated 90,000 panel monthly capacity by the beginning of 2007.
- July 14, 2006, Samsung Electronics and Sony Corporation signed the final contract for constructing an 8th generation amorphous TFT LCD panel manufacturing line at their joint venture, S-LCD Corporation.
Since the agreement on the Letter of Intent, which was released in April 2006, there has been discussion between the two companies and a the final contract stage has been reached regarding establishing an 8th generation amorphous TFT LCD panel production line (glass substrate size of approximately 2,200 mm × 2,500 mm) in addition to the current 7th generation amorphous TFT LCD panel production line at S-LCD. The two parties plan to invest approximately $1.9 billion* (1.8 trillion Won, approximately 200 billion JPY), with each company providing half. Actual production is targeted to start in fall, 2007 with a production capacity of 50,000 panels per month. The investment amount does not include the cost of the building and land. Together with the current 7th generation line, the start of the world’s most advanced (8th generation) line will enable both companies to expand production of large screen LCD panels for 50 inch class LCD TVs, of which demand is expected to see a significant increase, as well as to acquire a stable supply to meet demands.
