Sør-Rana

Sør-Rana is a former municipality in Nordland county, Norway.

It was created by a split from Hemnes in 1926. The new municipality had a population of 1.708.

On 1 January 1964 the district north of the Ranfjord, with 697 inhabitants, was merged with Mo i Rana, Nord-Rana and a part of Nesna to create the new municipality Rana. The rest of Sør-Rana, with 934 inhabitants, was reunited with Hemnes.
