Sítio d'Abadia is located in a corner of eastern Goiás, 14 kilometers north of the border with Minas Gerais. It is about 30 kilometers west of the border with Bahia. It is one of the most isolated towns in the state of Goiás and can only be accessed by paved highway by driving north to Damianópolis. It belongs to the Vão do Paranã Microregion.
The distance to Goiânia is 561 km. Highway connections are made by BR-153 / Anápolis / GO-060 / Alexânia / Planaltina / Formosa / GO-020 / BR-030 / Vila Boa / Alvorada do Norte / GO-236 / Buritinópolis / Mambaí / GO-108 / Damianópolis.

In January 2005 the Mayor was Kesser Vieira Reis. The city council had 9 members and the number of eligible voters in April 2006 was 2,260.

In 2005 the population density was 1.65 inhab/km². In 2003 there were 1,065 inhabitants in the urban area and 1,595 inhabitants in the rural area. The population has decreased by about 50 inhabitants since 1980.

The economy is based on modest services, public administration, agriculture and cattle raising. In 2005 there were no industrial units and 10 commercial units. In 2004 there were only 26 automobiles in the municipality.
In 2004 there were 20,000 head of cattle, 12,500 head of poultry, and 1,230 head of swine. The main agricultural products were rice, bananas, sugarcane, manioc, beans, corn, and soybeans (2,510 hectares planted).

In 2003 there were no hospitals and 2 ambulatory health clinics. There was 1 doctor, 2 nurses, and 2 dentists in 2002. In 2000 the infant mortality rate was 36.25--above the national average of 33.0. This had been 50.80 in 1990.
In 2005 the school system had 8 schools, 30 classrooms, 64 teachers, and 913 students. There were 115 students in 1 middle school. In 2000 the adult literacy rate was 74.4%--below the national average of 86.4%. This rate had been 58.4% in 1991.

In 2000 there were 635 households, of which 416 declared an income of less than 1 minimum salary.

Sítio d'Abadia has one of the greatest waterfalls in the state located on the Rio Corrente. [1]

Sítio d'Abadia is a very poor town in one of the poorest areas of the state. In 2000 it was ranked 235 out of 242 municipalities in the state of Goiás on the United Nations Human Development Index with a score of 0.643. Nationally it was ranked 3,875 out of 5,507 municipalities.
