Séraphine Louis

Séraphine Louise (Séraphine de Senlis) (1894–1942) was a French Neoprimitive painter. She came to prominence under the guidance of art collector Wilhelm Uhde. Her works are of richly fantasised floral arrangements. Louise was once a shepherdess and a kitchen maid. She died in a psychiatric hospital during the period of the German occupation of France.
